Life on the lake

Torrens Lake, that part of the River Torrens that the Convention Centre overlooks, means many different things to many different people.

This series of video loops presents a few.

Parkrun 1
Parkrun takes place every Saturday morning around Torrens Lake. I stumbled upon it by accident. After a rather fruitless effort to film early morning joggers, I looked around to find hundreds of them descending on me. This video loop shows Parkrun runners on the north side of the lake about to run under the new River Torrens footbridge.

Rowing
This video loop shows views of rowers from different aspects of the lake.

Walkathon
Community events are a common feature of the lake area. This video loop shows a community walkathon just after it commenced from the Elder Park rotunda. This particular walkathon was raising money for medical research. If you look closely (and squint) you can see parents, children and even strollers passing by.

Popeye
The Popeye cruises between Elder Park and the zoo are an institution of Adelaide. This video loop shows  cruise passing under the new bridge on its way to the weir and then back again.

Parkrun 2
Another view of the Parkrun, this time filmed under the new River Torrens footbridge, with the early morning sun and waterfall forming a glowing backdrop. The runners and their long shadows are silhouetted.
